Why local-first
Regulated firms on the Suncoast were being sold two things: a national vendor's cloud subscription, or a strategy deck. Neither leaves you with a system. We started Handistack to do the unglamorous part — specify the hardware, integrate it with the software you already run, rack it in your closet, and answer the phone when something breaks.
Why you own it
Per-seat AI pricing punishes you for growing, and a subscription can be repriced or discontinued by someone you'll never meet. A machine in your server room can't be. You pay once to have it built and installed, and the system sits on your books as an asset you own. If you ever stop working with us, the system keeps running — we'll document it so your IT provider can take over.
What we won't tell you
That on-premise makes you compliant. It removes the biggest exposure — client data going to a third party — and it gives your risk assessment something concrete to point at. Policy, training and the assessment itself are still yours. If the analysis says a private AI won't pay for itself in your firm yet, we'll say that instead of selling you one.
